Low-tech or high-tech AAC gives children a way to express themselves, connect, and learn language. A licensed speech-language pathologist can complete an AAC evaluation to determine what tools best support a child’s communication needs. Under IDEA, students have the right to assistive technology, including AAC, when it’s needed to access communication and education.
